In this session participants will discover fun, easy, and engaging activities that promote best practices and high-quality physical education utilizing OPENphysed.org. Academic rigor is infused in all of the content provided on OPEN. No student will be waiting on the sidelines in these outcomes-based activities designed by teachers for teachers. The goal is for participants to leave this session with new ideas to enhance MVPA.

Do you teach preschool aged children? Do you need developmentally appropriate activities to actively engage these young students? Would you like a free online resource to access whenever you need it? This session will provide participants with activities to model and engage young children in physical activity regardless of space and equipment limitations. Participants will receive free, standards-based resources to ensure everything they learn is sustainable. The goal of this session is for participants to say, “Wow! Kids Love to Move!”
This is a customized session to support the direct needs of participants. The theme will be centered around empowerment and encouraging participants to leverage their strengths and optimism when faced with challenges and uncertainty. As always, the audience will be asked to stay engaged and join the activities used throughout this session. Some popular topics in the past have focused on team building, fitness, recess, technology, assessment, grant funding, comprehensive physical activity, and much more.
Be ready to move in this active session! We will explore multiple ways to engage students in movement experiences outside of PE including in the classroom, at recess, after-school, and through family engagement. Topics will span a wide range of grade and interest levels and can easily be implemented immediately. We know the importance of 60 minutes of MVPA every day. Be the advocate to help make this happen. This highly active session will address how personal fitness can engage and empower students! Participants will learn how to develop physically literate individuals by integrating effective fitness activities, assessments, and other resources. This session will highlight a variety of tools available on OPEN designed to reinforce fitness concepts in and out of the gymnasium.
This session is geared toward teachers with little or no equipment and those that teach in small spaces. The activities in this session will increase the MVPA and physical literacy of students despite these challenges. Discover fun and easy methods to promote best practices and high quality physical education. We will also connect the content to the national standards and grade-level outcomes.
